Roman Caruk : Lifetime Achievement Award – 2006

Roman Caruk has recently retired from teaching in the separate school board, but is continuing his long-standing passionate work to promote environmental practices and learning. His accomplishments include establishing a board environmental policy, a ban on the use of pesticides and Styrofoam, a recycling partnership with the city, and the enrollment of over half of the board in the first year of the Ontario Eco Schools program.Roman has guided the work of the Social and Ecological Responsibility in Education committee, and also participated in numerous community environmental organizations.
