Dr Denis Corr is being recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his sustained efforts to improve the environment in Hamilton. Denis counts a quarter century of achievements with the provincial Ministry of the Environment including leading roles in minimizing the environmental impacts of the Hagersville Tire Fire, the Plastimet Fire, and the PCB cleanup in Smithville. Since his retirement he’s added 15 years of remarkable contributions to public understanding and action on air pollution as a teacher, researcher and volunteer activist. That has included innovative and sustained work to focus attention on and reduce Hamilton’s pollution exposure especially to school children where he has carefully nurtured scientific confidence and discipline. He also served as the volunteer chair of Clean Air Hamilton.
